WARM Vinyasa Flow (Mixed Level)

This class is taught by:

Nancy Fischer

Nancy is a warm and supportive teacher that leads from her heart and loves to laugh from down deep in her core. She is passionate about living every day to the fullest. Yoga has taught her the value in being fully present in the moment and appreciating the beauty in all that is around you. She has dedicated over 10 years to practicing yoga and is fully committed to balancing a daily yoga and meditation practice along with her lifelong passion for long distance running. Nancy received her 200 Hour Yoga Alliance teaching certificate from Onyx Yoga Studio. She is grateful to many teachers that have inspired her along this journey and will always be present in her teachings including Shannon Elliott, Yulady Saluti, Annie Isaacson, and Alex Shipman. For these teachers have taught her the value of alignment, spirituality, laughter and the pure joy that comes from paying it forward and watching your student’s succeed. She is grateful to her family for their support along this journey.

John Cotone

In early 2017, John began his journey in yoga while looking for something to keep his mind busy and his body active. Although his predominant training is vinyasa based, he also likes to incorporate Yin postures into some of his classes. Students can find a safe space to be and find themselves in his class. Through the use of mindful movements, conscious breathing and optimal alignment, students will begin to obtain a better awareness for their body as well as cultivate a feeling of centeredness that can be accessed on and off the mat. John feels as though the spiritual side of yoga has greatly impacted his life and he enjoys sharing that based on his knowledge of the Yoga Sutras and The Bhagavad Gita. The practice of yoga has helped heal him physically, mentally, and emotionally and he hopes to be able to share that with his students to allow them to reach their full potential.

Michael Kohan

Michael (Mukunda Chandra das) completed his 300 hour teacher training in 2013 under the guidance of Ragunath das and Sondra Loring. Additionally, in 2015 he will complete a 600 hour Anusara Yoga teacher training lead by Sue Elkind and Naime Jezzeny. His well-rounded asana classes incorporate creative Vinyasa sequencing along with meditation, clear intention, and uplifting music. Michael’s asana classes are infused with devotion and aligned with the spiritual teachings of the Bhagavad Gita and the Yoga Sutras of Master Patanjali. He strives to embody the qualities of yoga - humility, compassion, devotional service and non-violence, and he believes his role is to serve others through the practice of yoga, enabling students to become steadfast in their yoga. He believes that in serving others, we come to realize our true purpose.

Jill Portaro

Jill dove into the yoga world after quitting her high paced 9-5 job to start her own mental health private practice. She thought yoga would be a good way to help pass the time as she built up her practice. A few months later, she signed up for teacher training and has grown to love the philosophy as well as the asana (practice). She now realizes that yoga is far from just a way to pass time. In fact, her life would be incomplete without it. Jill completed her 200-hour teacher training at Onyx Yoga Studio. Jill brings her warm-hearted energy to help students reach their full potential while feeling guided along the way. With a focus on alignment and breathwork, Jill helps students feel safe and capable in class. Her creativity and honesty will keep you laughing while working towards challenging yourself. She incorporates her mental health background onto the mat through mindfulness based principals leaving students feeling grounded even after leaving the mat.

Sarah Frydlewicz

Sarah began her yoga journey in January of 2014. What started out as a challenging workout, soon became a guide toward self-discovery, mental clarity, emotional healing and spiritual growth. Sarah was amazed by the way her yoga practice eased her anxiety and taught her how to live from a place of gratitude, intention and presence. She truly believes that because of yoga she has become a better wife, daughter, sister, teacher and friend. With a goal to deepen her practice, gain knowledge and understanding of the teachings and share this gift with people of all ages and abilities, Sarah enrolled in Onyx Yoga Studio’s Teacher Training Program and received her RYT-200 certification in 2018.

Sarah is a 1st grade teacher and has a passion for helping children see themselves as strong, smart, compassionate and confident individuals, but with a lot of pressure constantly pressing our kids to do well academically and fit in socially, it can be really hard. Sarah uses yoga in her classroom daily to teach her students how to be true to who they are and how to make the connection between their mind, body and breath to allow them to find comfort, gratitude and ease in whatever they do, wherever they go. Sarah received her children’s yoga certification through Peace Play at Onyx Yoga Studio in 2016.

Sarah’s goal is to bring the yoga teachings into each class and help make the philosophy of yoga relatable to each student in such a way, that they begin taking their yoga off the mat and into their daily life. Sarah is inspired by her teachers Shannon Elliott, Jane Lindemann and Gabi Perrotti and is eternally grateful for their love, support and guidance on this journey toward happiness and contentment.

She attributes her passion and love for the art to her teachers and mentors; Shannon Elliot, Gabriella Perotti, and Jane Lindemann who not only showed her the beautiful path that yoga could lead her on, but also an entirely new way of living.

Alex has been interested in athletics before she entered grade school, immersing herself in competitive swimming, boxing, mixed martial arts, and cross country. She competed for a semi-professional swim team until she entered college where she earned her Bachelors Degree in Public Relations from Kean University.
A Vinyasa Yoga class performed at a WARM temperature (90+ degrees) and taught at a regular Mixed Level pace. A prior yoga practice and knowledge of basic postures is assumed as the class moves quite vigorously. The only difference between a HOT Flow class and this one is temperature. Come prepared to explore physical postures, traditional yogic chanting, breathwork and philosophy. Bring a non skid towel for your mat, hydrate well prior to class and bring water. We recommend that true beginners should start in Beginner Basics (regular temperature) before moving into WARM or HOT classes.
